My name is Jennifer Dennis-Wall, PhD.
After some truly wonderful training at the University of North Texas and the University of Florida, I left academia to pursue something else that was tugging at my innards (sorry, I studied GI function in grad school). I loved doing research, and my papers were necessary contributions to my field. But I saw that they weren’t really reaching my non-science community like they could be. The popular press articles about my research were nice, but they didn’t, and couldn’t possibly, tell the whole story. In fact, my non-science community was not getting the whole picture from anything related to science in popular press. It’s great for alerts, but the learning does not stop there. (Spoiler alert: they really needed to read my actual paper.)
Every single one of us deserves to understand what science is really doing for us – and what it could do for us. We don’t have to be scientists ourselves to understand, appreciate, and advocate for it.
I write to you, the masses, about all kinds of stuff so that you can read full-fledged scientific articles yourself – and understand them. You don’t need to rely on someone else to interpret it for you.
I offer select services for researchers, scholars, healthcare providers, and entrepreneurs.
I also cook mostly international food, keep my toddler and canine child alive and happy-ish, and do crosswords. I also read books. I read lots of books. (To be frank, mostly just parts of lots of books.) My husband thinks I have a problem.
